West Yorkshire Police as the lead Force for the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS) are looking to recruit a Regional Sample Reception Officer (PACE) to be based at Calder Park, Wakefield. Role Responsibilities Provide a comprehensive administrative support function in relation to forensic samples.Interrogate and update information on a range of technical systems, including the Police National Computer, Socrates and Microsoft packages.Be responsible for recording DNA sample submissions and ensuring the integrity of the data in accordance with legislation under the Protection of Freedoms Act (PoFA) and the Police And Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).Process and package the DNA samples for onward transmission to the Forensic Service Provider ensuring continuity is maintained.Essential Criteria Basic knowledge of and ability to operate computerised databases and record information accuratelyGood literacy skillsAbility to prioritise work load and deliver service provision to meet customer requirementsKnowledge of relevant PACE and DNA legislation would be an advantage. (Desirable)An understanding of exhibit continuity and its importance to the Criminal Justice system.Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate must be prepared to provide biometric samples for inclusion on the Police Elimination Databases.
